Program Overview
The LanGo Abroad! South Korea Language & Culture Program offers Korean language and culture enthusiasts the ultimate opportunity to learn and practice Korean and to be immersed in the culture of South Korea. Our goal is to provide participants with a program filled with unique, hands-on experiences so that they can increase fluency through cultural immersion, social interaction, experiential learning, and engagement with several communities in South Korea. The program itinerary will include time in the capital city of Seoul, the charming city of Suwon, the colorful port city of Busan, the historic city of Gyeongju, and the beautiful island of Jeju. Participants will be able to try authentic cuisine, observe traditional customs, learn about the history, culture, and language variety of each place we visit, and interact in Korean with our instructors and with locals.
The 2025 South Korea Language & Culture Program will be held for a period of twelve days from May 20th – June 1st, 2025. Registration opens on September 23rd, 2024 and closes on December 15th, 2024 or until the participant cap is reached.
KOREAN Learning Itinerary
You will participate in Korean lessons and language and cultural activities each day of the program. The learning itinerary for each day will be themed around different aspects of Korean language and culture. Morning Korean lessons will focus on vocabulary and skills needed for that day’s themed learning experiences. Evening Korean lessons will feature review and synthesis of everything that participants have learned that day.
DESTINATION ITINERARY
The program’s travel itinerary will include the following destinations:
· Week 1: Seoul , May 20th – 25th
· Week 1: Suwon day trip, May 24th
· Week 2: Busan, May 25th – 28th
· Week 2: Gyeongju day trip, May 30th
· Week 2: Jeju Island, May 28th– June 1st
Cultural Activities & Excursions
Program participants will enjoy many activities in the cities we visit including walking and food tours, scavenger hunts, and visits to historic and cultural sites. There are also many restaurants and shops within walking distance within the areas where the program will be based.
You will participate in cultural activities and excursions during various portions of the program. Optional cultural excursions include day trips to: 1) Suwon to visit the historic Hwaseong Fortress of the Joseon Dynasty and the new Starfield Library, and 2) Gyeongju, the ancient capital city of the Silla Dynasty. Optional hikes include the scenic Bukhan Mountain in Seoul and volcanic Halla Mountain on Jeju Island.
Accommodation
The program will be based in conveniently located hotels in Seoul and Busan, and at a bed & breakfast on the beach in Jeju Island. All feature free breakfast & WiFi; some include airport transfers & laundry service.
Program Cost
Total Cost: $3,275; includes: customized Korean language program & learning materials, cultural activities, domestic flights, and shared accommodations for 12 nights.
Registration & Deposit Due: $895; December 15th, 2024
Remaining Balance Due: April 25th, 2025 (can be paid in monthly installments)
Trip Meeting
Once registration closes, we will hold a trip planning meeting to talk about things to know, pack, and do before you go!
