Meet Our Team

Our team is made up of qualified language teachers and with diverse backgrounds in linguistics, education, academic research, curriculum design, and teaching abroad. We love all things language and we love helping people learn new languages systematically and efficiently. We are firm believers in the experiential, communicative, and immersive approach to language teaching. We are passionate about using our combined experience and skill sets to create quality language learning experiences for our students.


Lisa Jeon Ox

Lisa Jeon Ox

Director of Language Programs & Korean Language Instructor

Lisa is a linguist and language educator, and is passionate about language teaching pedagogy and designing programs based in linguistic principles. She has more than a decade of experience developing, coordinating, and teaching language programs in the United States, Mexico, and South Korea. Lisa earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from Rice University and her M.A. in Linguistics with TESOL certification from the University of North Texas. She loves working with language learners and is energized by their goals. She thrives on understanding their challenges and creating a complete plan to get them where they want to go. She enjoys being a part of someone's world-view-expanding journey to discovering, learning, and speaking a new language.

Evan Oxenhandler

Evan Oxenhandler

Operations & Quality Assurance Manager

Evan is an experienced educator with his M.A. in Music and training from the Berklee College of Music and the Division of Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas. He is a talented jazz guitarist and has taught and developed courses for many prestigious music institutions. Evan manages the daily operations of our language school and measures and maintains the quality of our facilities and services. He is also a polyglot! He speaks English and German and is currently working on improving his Korean and Spanish language skills.

Tyler Paul Utt

Tyler Paul Utt

Content Manager, Chinese, Japanese, French & German Language Instructor

Tyler was born on Hangeul Day and has always been fascinated with languages. Growing up he attended school in the Netherlands, the US, and Germany, and he holds degrees in Linguistics from UT Austin and the University of North Texas. He has taught English in China and Japan, and has worked as a documentary linguist on the Burushaski (Pakistan) and Lamkang (northeast India) languages, contributing to dictionaries, writing systems, and grammatical analysis. He currently teaches Chinese, Japanese, French, and German at LanGo Institute, and specializes in teaching students how to master pronunciation and inflection.

Marison Clayton

Community Outreach Manager, Spanish & English Language Instructor

Marison holds degrees in Spanish and Speech Language Pathology (SLP) from the University of North Texas. She studied abroad in Costa Rica and this experience really developed her knowledge and understanding of Spanish and overall love for learning new languages, traveling, and experiencing different cultures. While Spanish is the only other language she has formally studied and taught, Marison is also interested in continuing to study other languages and linguistics and is so excited to be a part of the LanGo teaching team!

Peter Schuelke

Peter Schuelke

Podcast Manager, English & Portuguese Language Instructor

Peter is a linguist with a background in phonology, syntax, comparative linguistics, language conservation, and language teaching. He speaks Brazilian Portuguese and has a minor in Japanese, and has extensive teaching experience in linguistics and ESL. As a researcher, he specializes in Austronesian languages with small populations of speakers. Peter earned a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He has worked as a researcher of endangered language documentation at University of Newcastle, a visiting fellow at Harvard University’s Polinsky Language Science Lab, and as co-director of the Language Documentation Training Center at the University of Hawai'i. His favorite language is Roviana from Solomon Islands.

Luis Hernandez

Luis Hernandez

Spanish & Italian Language Instructor

Luis was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and is a native speaker of Mexican Spanish. His passion for languages began after taking an introductory course in linguistics as an undergraduate. He received his Bachelor’s in Linguistics and Film Studies from the University of Pittsburgh with a minor in Italian and his MA in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Arlington. Luis has studied and taught abroad in Florence, Italy and in the Catalonian region of Spain, where he developed knowledge and appreciation of Italian and Catalan language and culture. He was also part of the English Language Institute at Pitt, where he took part in a language exchange program with native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese. These experiences have enabled Luis to identify and overcome the challenges that come with language learning and teaching.

Levi Acord

Intern & Language Teacher-in-Training

Levi just earned his Masters degree in Linguistics from UNT, and has a Bachelors degree in Linguistics with an Anthropology minor. He hopes to go on to get his PhD in documentation and revitalization of endangered languages and would also like to teach languages abroad. He has studied German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Hindi, and Hebrew and has a deep and abiding respect for different languages and cultures. He enjoys teaching and is motivated by watching the students come to understand something that they didn't before.

Sam Reeves

Sam Reeves

Intern & Language Teacher-in-Training

Sam has been interested in language learning since she was selected to participate in a pilot Dual Language education program in primary school. She recently graduated from UNT with a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and minors in English and Social Science. She is now attending graduate school at UNT to receive her Master's in Linguistics and certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Sam hopes to eventually work in bilingual education. She has about 8 years experience of formally studying Spanish and hopes to become as fluent as possible. She has also been teaching herself Brazilian Portuguese for just over a year and hopes to learn more languages in the future, including Korean, German, and ASL. Sam is very excited to be part of the LanGo team!

Josephine Arsenio

Intern & Language Teacher-in-Training

Josephine Arsenio is a first-generation Panamanian-American and heritage speaker of Spanish, which is where her passion for language learning stems from. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s in Linguistics and concentration in Teaching English while also studying Spanish and Dance as minors. Josephine seeks to learn about other languages and cultures while teaching foreign languages. She hopes to begin her career in education through her work at LanGo and through overseas English teaching in Japan.

Fabiola Cardona

Fabiola Cardona

Intern & Language Teacher-in-Training

Fabiola is a native Spanish speaker. Her passion for ESL and Bilingual education began when she first learned English at the age of 12. She holds a Bachelor’s from Sam Houston State University in Elementary Education with a minor in Bilingual Communication. She will soon begin her Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at SHSU. She is excited to begin her journey in education at LanGo while creating a space for growth, collaboration, and inclusion for both children and adults.

Nick Habel

Nick Habel

Intern and Language Teacher-in-Training

Nick is a Linguist with their Master's in Linguistics from The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). In their time as an undergraduate at UTA, they earned Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Linguistics, a Minor in Spanish, and an Undergraduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Nick's research explores the intersections of sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and psychology. In addition to a few years of formal instruction in Spanish, they've also had a mix of formal instruction and self-study in Portuguese and Korean. They aim to continue their journey by pursuing teaching licensure and a PhD in Linguistics.
